Latest Updates from Our Project:

Funds have been transfered
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 01, 2021 at 09:11:48 AM

Hello folks, the total Kickstarter funds (minus fees and what not) of $11,802.25 were transferred to my bank. The deposit to begin the project has been sent to the manufacturer, and the new box designs have also been submitted. Next, I’ll be setting up a pledge manager for surveys and any last minute add ons.

Sadly, and rather unexpectedly, between the time of my original price quote in the beginning of 2021 and now, the costs of raw manufactured goods has increased drastically. In a few short months the price estimate of this Kickstarter project has increased by about 20%. Zoinks! Hopefully the shipping estimate will not be that far off. I try to buffer projects, but I don’t buffer by this much money. Regardless, the deposit has been sent and the project is moving forward.

How often would you all like me to post updates?

Thank you for helping attain this goal :)

Campaign Updates and Stuff and Junk
about 3 years ago – Wed, Mar 24, 2021 at 09:39:30 PM

Hello everyone, thank you for supporting the War in Christmas Village tabletop miniatures game Kickstarter!

Recently, a large entertainment and gaming company ran a Kickstarter campaign, they successfully funded at almost double their funding goal, and yet six days before their successful campaign ended the creators canceled the campaign :/ I think the Kickstarter campaign was cancelled because, the creators low balled their funding goal as a marketing tactic, and I think that tactic backfired on them this time.

The game design has a lot of beautiful, large, and highly detailed minis, and those are very expensive to produce because, of the die tooling, prototyping, etc. I think the campaign creators expected 4 times the funding goal, didn’t get the funding, and cancelled so as to not lose money when fulfilling pledge rewards. As the history of Kickstarter has demonstrated, creators can lose money on a successful Kickstarter campaign, even a campaign that funds a million dollars. This is all too common.

When I first started Kickstarter I joined an online Kickstarter advice group to learn, and I saw the pros doing this low ball marketing tactic, and I thought this was how the Kickstarter funding was achieved. For my first Kickstarter campaign I did the exact same marketing tactic I low balled the funding, and after launching I soon realized this was not the best of ideas, as backers don’t like this.

With current campaigns I estimate the manufacturing costs to fund a box or two or three of mold injected PVC miniatures, and try to raise that dollar amount. Sometimes I raise extra funding and I will add extra freebies like I did with the Gingerbread Gang miniatures set. After our last Kickstarter backers got an additional large Gingerbread person miniature in the finished box because, we raised extra money and I thought I would be a neat surprise!

The purpose of this update is to reassure everyone who is supporting our Kickstarter campaign that if we succeed in our funding goal, I will not be cancelling the campaign before it closes. The amount of money requested in the campaign is what I require to professionally recast all of our minis. I do not require 3-4 time the funding goal to make this project happen, although it would be nice to receive that much funding :)

And yes, I do have extra surprises planned for this campaign, but you’ll have to wait until your pledge arrives to see what those surprises are :)

Thank you, stay safe out there ,and please have a good one!

Joe

Hello everyone. Thank you for supporting this Kickstarter campaign and for the kind words about our miniatures.

I think we are off to a strong start toward reaching the funding goal, and I’m looking forward to new layout and a professional final look for The War in Christmas Village miniatures game rules.

Please share this Kickstarter campaign with friends, and on social media, and please be safe out there :)
